April - Drop Everything And Read (DEAR) & Poetry Month Activities

Stop Drop & Read & Enjoy A Little Poetry In the Process

Stop everything you're doing, pick up a book, and read!  In the month of April, ELC students Drop Everything and Read (DEAR)!  DEAR is a national month-long celebration of reading created to encourage people of all ages to make reading a priority. During April, students will DEAR their favorite books.

During this month, poetry is also celebrated.  National Poetry Month celebrates the joy, expressiveness, and pleasure of poetry.  Students celebrate by learning and being exposed to the many elements of poetry through reading, writing, and performing poetry!

All About Me Poems Galore!

Students were tasked with identifying their 5 favorite hobbies and/or things they love to do and illustrating each hobby.  They then had to describe the emotion or feeling they get when doing each of their favorite things and illustrate each emotion as well.  After working all week long, students presented their poems to their classes.
