Celebrating Asian American & Pacific Islander Heritage and Achievement

During the month of May, students at the ELC learn about Asian American and Pacific Islander heritage.  Students learn about the culture, traditions, history, achievements, and contributions of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders in the United States.

2024

The last month of the school year in the library focused on creating Chinese Fans for Mom, a mother's day gift.  Students decorated and handmade each fan just for the special woman in their lives.  The book of the month:  I Am Golden by Eva Chen.  




2023

Parade of Chinese New Year Dragons!

Students learned about the Chinese New Year and its many traditions.  Based on what they learned about the Chinese New Year through daily stories and videos, students were able to create their very own Chinese New Year Dragons.  They participated in a parade with their personally designed dragons.
